The Pepsi Refresh Project formally launched today, utilizing Twitter, Facebook and a Web site to encourage participation. Jill Beraud, chief marketing officer for PepsiCo, blogged on this Web site recently about the ambition, which she called a project in optimism, determined to help get great ideas of community service off the ground.
For the past year, the Pepsi brand has been marketed with its "Refresh everything" mantra, where the brand asks people to talk about ways to change their world. Now the brand is going further. "We feel like it's something so different that it's going to connect with our consumers on so many different levels and really inspire people in very different ways," said Jill Beraud.

AMP (All-Ages Movement Project) is building a network of community-based organizations that connect young people through independent music and art. With Pepsi Refresh Grant, Shannon Stewart , the co-founder of AMP, will publish a book to encourage new music centers around the country to keep the music alive, and keep kids of all ages involved.
Bike & Build organizes cross-country bicycle trips which benefit affordable housing groups. April 09, 2010 — Sharif Morad had the idea to bike across the country, stopping along the way to build homes. He submitted his idea, you voted, and it won a $5,000 Pepsi Refresh grant.
TheSparkleEffect is working to help other high-school kids form their own special-needs cheer teams. The experience that comes from creating something like this changes the lives of all involved. It makes inclusion the "new normal" for the participating school, a spirit that spreads across the entire neighborhood.
June 02, 2010 — Thanks to Calvin Cannon and the Pepsi Refresh Project, twenty lucky young men from Shelbyville Tennessee attended their senior prom decked out with fresh haircuts and spiffy tuxedos. With a $5,000 grant, Cannon boosted these young men's self esteem and helped make prom night a cherished high school memory.
