These old Zenith round Black Dial tube radios are very sought after! It's one of the coolest looking dials from this era.
This radio was found at an estate sale. The cord was bad and I had a radio hobbyist friend replace it with an older style corn that is nice shape. It does power up and the light comes on and the tubes are glowing. The original Zenith field coil speaker does work. I wasn't able to tune in any stations, but was able to get pops and static from the speaker. The tuning dial sticks and doesn't move the full range. One of the original Zenith wood knobs is missing for the volume on/off control. One of the lamps that illuminate the dial is burnt out.
The cabinet is in good shape with only one section of the veneer that is missing and that's on the back corner. Some of the veneer is coming loose, but should be easy to glue back down. It has several scuffs and needs some TLC to get it shined back up. The fabric has some holes in it.
This is a great project radio for anyone who has always wanted one of these old "Black Dial" Zenith's! The radio chassis alone can sell for $150 or more! Those wood knobs are pretty valuable as well!
Twirl the famous "Magnavision" black dial on this Zenith. Notice that it has two hands, like a clock! There's the reason why you can tune, log, relocate accurately practically any foreign station in the world with this set. One hand tunes the general station location. The other, super-sensitive, tunes within an area, separating closely crowded stations.
