Be an early bird and beat the crowds
Explore the Trail Ridge Road
While there is still some snow on the ground almost through the springtime in Rocky Mountain National Park, spring is an incredible time to explore the park's most talked about the scenic drive: Trail Ridge Road. Take the 1.5 to 2-hour drive from Winter Park for sweeping views of the mountain peaks and enthralling valleys, complete with new vegetation and occasional sighting opportunities to see marmots, bighorn sheep, and the elusive moose! Be the first on the road for the spring season—and beat the summer crowds.
Beware, the Trail Ridge Road is closed in the winter, so be checked with the National Park Service whether the trail is open to vehicles. The trail is open to cyclists earlier in the season, so pedal on for an exhilarating experience, which can become one of your favorite fire-side tales.
