On the site, you can explore our investigation of shelter life, a confusing and frustrating process; the educational policy that aims to guarantee a good education for homeless youth; the data and statistics upon which we built our project; and perhaps most important, the voices of the youth, parents and advocates who deal with the realities of homeless life every day. Each category, which you can also see in the navigation bar just below the logo, has multiple posts that examine different angles.
Industry NYC
New York City is constantly in flux—industries change, neighborhoods evolve. Only a few butchers operate in Manhattan’s Meatpacking district today, cruise ships dock on Red Hook’s long-abandoned waterfront and green businesses grow in the South Bronx. Other industries at the cusp of change: car parts shops, independent pharmacies and ethnic travel agencies. Industry NYC takes a look at how some of the city’s industries deal with change.

Deportation Dialogue
One-way ticket: deportation dialogues is a project by a team of seven New York City based journalists. It is an open and ongoing conversation about an issue that not only affects immigrants who are removed from the U.S., but also their families and communities. It is about policy and law as much as it is about the stories of individuals and groups who are affected.
This is not a web site pro or against deportation, this is an account of what’s happening around the issue. Our goal, as journalists, is to report on a painful and controversial issue showing all points of view — giving voice to the voiceless, understanding the concerns of the establishment, and fomenting participation and constructive conversation.
