we are Reformed Christian unschoolers with attachment parenting tendencies...
we bake our own bread and build our own computers, try to shop used, eat locally, and question the norm. we read the Heidelberg Catechism, Cradle to Cradle, and the Omnivore's Dilemma, and attempt to practice what we preach (especially with our kids...)
We are a group of Christians whom God has called to home educate. We each have been called individually to school in an untraditional manner, led to follow Him in the way our children should go instead of following the world.
For some of us this comes out as radical unschooling–our children have no formal lessons unless they take them on themselves. For others the schedule and learning is very relaxed or eclectic and looks different from the structured classroom at home that people expect from Christians.
We are an untraditional family. We don’t do what others think we should do or go about things the way others expect that we would. We are currently embarking on a new journey, one that God has set before us. We are transitioning from Shamus being a full time programmer/ part time writer to full time writer living on our commissions. God is providing but it is a bumpy road and not one we would have chosen had we had a choice.
Unschooling mom of a leukemia survivor, a tree climbing rock star, and a dog loving toddler. Wife of a pirate. Self-proclaimed weirdo. Learning to not take myself too seriously and to have a heart of gratitude, no matter what life may throw my way.

We are a young family trying to educate our son in the ways of nature and live it up in the thick of things. We are moving to the middle of nowhere to make life as simple as possible, believe in treading lightly both on and off the trail, and wish to inspire others about what is possible if you don't underestimate your children.
What's to say? I am a dreamer, a dancer, a silly, compassionate, serious deep thinker. When my life falls down, I pick it back up again and try harder. My dreams are huge, and my determination is even bigger.
