Code Blocks
Create inline code blocks
by surrounding text with backticks (`).
To make multi-line code blocks, place three backticks (\`\`\`) on the lines before and after some text. The text inside of code blocks doesn't get converted to Markdown. It's a convenient way to show people examples of Mardown, or to quote text that has characters that might accidently get recognized as Markdown.
Markdown used for this example (shown as a block quote
instead of a code block

Escaping Markingdown Characters
Sometimes you need to write something that you don't want to get converted to Markdown. To accomplish this, "escape" (hide) the special characters that Markdown recognizes by placing a backslash \
in front of the character.
\ backslash
` backtick
* asterisk
_ underscore
{} curly braces
[] square brackets
() parentheses
# hash mark
+ plus sign
- minus sign (hyphen)
. dot
! exclamation mark
: colon
| pipe
\\ backslash
\` backtick
\* asterisk
\_ underscore
\{\} curly braces
\[\] square brackets
\(\) parentheses
\# hash mark

\- minus sign (hyphen)
